I’m such weak sauce.

As a civilization we are always looking towards progress, to take a step forward in order to obliterate our past. Take this week’s announcement of the new iPhone seeking to make obsolete it’s forbearer.
I, for one, hate nostalgia. If I was into that shit, I would be sitting in a trailer park in Pensacola, Florida preaching about getting back in god’s good graces. No, I do not want to be Lot’s wife looking back at the destruction of Sodom only to be turned into a pillar of salt. I want to keep looking forward and evolving. (Funny how I’m using a biblical reference to make the case of evolution).
I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently with all the sport’s writing I do. Writing about sports is inherently based on nostalgia and the past. Everything I write about references events in the past, be it a day or years. Last night’s Dodger game, last week’s Laker game, that September 18, 2006 Dodger game. It’s all a security blanket we cling on to. Or at least I do.
But that’s quite a quandry, ain’t it? Just something I’ve been thinking about all week.

Squee broke his litterbox this week. I don’t know exactly how he did it. My best guess is that he jumped on it and it went ka-thunk. So he has a new litterbox and it’s all better.
I filled my car with some of that petrol that’s in the news lately, and when it was said and done I spend just over $60. I drive a 2002 Camry mind you. So public transportation will definitely be in my future. It should be interesting going from East Hollywood to West LA.

Yup I went to see them again, and you can read my review at LAist. They’re one of the few current bands out there that I like a lot. One thing I forgot to mention in my review was how many dykes there were at the show. I love me some dykes so it was just reassuring to see them in full force.
Things have been quite hectic, so much so that all I do on the weekends is stay in and vegetate. Really. I’ll wake up, go on the internets, watch some movies and roll over and go to bed for the night. But come Monday I know that things will go 100,000 mph yet again.
The only problem is that now my weekends are so boring. I need to remedy this right away.

In mid-September Ben, Cathi and I will converge upon New York City to take in a game at Yankee Stadium. You heard it correctly. Three die hard Dodger fans will be traveling to New York City for a Yankees game.
But I’m planning on being in the city for around four days. Now I’ve never been to the Big Apple, so I need recommendations for the weirdest and most interesting places to go. There is no way I want to be with throngs of cattle going to Time Square and all that other nonsense.
I don’t travel very often and rarely take a vacation, so I am really really excited.
